He is writing a book on the linguisticality of early American nationality, as well as essays on Richard Wright, nineteenth-century sensation fiction, and American masculinity. Gerald DOHERTY teaches literature and literary theory at the University of Turku, Turku, Finland. He has published many articles on modernist writers in such journals as Style, Criticism, and South Central Review.
