THE CONTRIBUTORS frank SHUFFELTON has written many articles on American literature, a biography of Thomas Hooker, an annotated, critical biography of the writings ofThomas Jefferson, and is currently at work on a study of Jefferson as a man of letters. Judith roof is co-editor (with Richard Feldstein) of Feminism and Psychoanalysis (Cornell, 1989) and is currently completing A Lure of Knowledge: Configurations of Lesbian Sexuality in Literature, Cinema, Psychoanalysis, and Criticism. bernhard RADLOFF has published articles on Melville, William Carlos Williams, and Faulkner, and on Heidegger and literary theory. He is currently working on modes of representation in Melville's major works. krzysztof ziarek has an essay on language in Levinas forthcoming in Research in Phenomenology (19), and anothet on Heidegger and American literary criticism is scheduled for the special 1989 Heidegget issue of Diacritics. He is currently working on American and Polish language poetry, and on the problem ofotherness in language. Andrew Lakritz has essays forthcoming on Jane Bowles and Wallace Stevens. He is at work on a study of Stevens, Frost, and Moore, as well as a manuscript of poems. rita ferrari is a graduate student at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and is writing a dissertation on John Hawkes. SUBMISSIONS The Boatd of Editors invites the submission of articles offering theoretical , historical, and cultural approaches to the canonical and noncanonical texts of American literature. Contributors should consult this issue fot style. Please submit two papet copies, or a 5 '/4-inch IBM-compatible floppy disk and one hand copy. If you send a disk, please designate the word processing program used. A self-addressed, stamped envelope should accompany all manuscripts. ...
