THE CONTRIBUTORS frank SHUFFELTON has written many articles on American literature, a biography of Thomas Hooker, an annotated, critical biography of the writings ofThomas Jefferson, and is currently at work on a study of Jefferson as a man of letters. Judith roof is co-editor (with Richard Feldstein) of Feminism and Psychoanalysis (Cornell, 1989) and is currently completing A Lure of Knowledge: Configurations of Lesbian Sexuality in Literature, Cinema, Psychoanalysis, and Criticism. bernhard RADLOFF has published articles on Melville, William Carlos Williams, and Faulkner, and on Heidegger and literary theory. He is currently working on modes of representation in Melville's major works. krzysztof ziarek has an essay on language in Levinas forthcoming in Research in Phenomenology (19), and anothet on Heidegger and American literary criticism is scheduled for the special 1989 Heidegget issue of Diacritics.
