THE CONTRIBUTORS Bryan wagner is Assistant Professor of English at the Uiversity of California, Berkeley. He is completing a project on the culture of black vagrancy in the nineteenth-centuty United States. Karen A. hoffmann is Assistant Professor of English at Lawrence University. She is currently working on a study of fictive autobiographies in American and British modernism. james m. MELLARD, editor emeritus of the journal Style, is author of The Exphded Form: The Modernist Novel in America, Doing Tropology: Analysis of Narrative Discourse, and UsingLacan, Reading Fiction. Recently retired from the department of English of Northern Illinois University, he now lives in San Antonio, Texas. William solomon is Assistant Professor of English at Gettysburg College. His current project examines racial and sexual identity in American Black humor of the 1960s. ben harker teaches nineteenth- and twentieth-century British and American literature at York University in the U.K. He's currently writing a biography of the Marxist dramatist, broadcaster, and songwriter Ewan MacColl. ...
