He is now focusing on the symbol of the book in representations of the American West. brandy PARRis received her Ph.D. from the University of Washington and is currently employed by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. faith Barrett is Assistant Professor of English at Lawrence University . She has co-edited an anthology of Civil War poetry, "Words for the Hour," and is working on a book analyzing stances of the address to the nation in Civil War-era poetry. Kevin GODDARD is Principal Lecturer in English Studies at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. He has published in the fields of American, South African, and Renaissance literatures, as well as gender studies.
