Editor's Comment With this issue, StudiesinAmerican Fiction marks the departure of Nina Baym from our editorialboard. Professor Baymjoined the board in 1990, and I have relied heavily on herbreadth and depth ofknowledge , keen professional judgment, and generous advice to authors throughout my own tenure as SAFs editor. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign plans to honor Professor Baym's retirement with a celebration of her career, including a day of public colloquia, this coming fall, October 21 and 22. Along with departures, I am also happy to announce a new arrival to the journal's staff: with this issue, Studies in American Fiction welcomes Tracy Banis as Book Review Editor and Editorial Assistant .
