In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Submission Guidelines

Articles must be based on original research and the careful analysis of primary source materials. Manuscripts are evaluated with the understanding that they have not been published in any language and are not under consideration for publication by another journal or as part of a book to be published in the near future. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material under copyright. Contributors are asked to assign their copyright to the Association for Middle East Women's Studies.

Manuscripts and editorial correspondence should be emailed to jmews@yale.edu. Books for review should be sent to JMEWS, Council on Middle East Studies, The MacMillan Center, Yale University, 34 Hillhouse Avenue, P.O. Box 208206, New Haven, CT 06520–8206. Unsolicited book reviews will be considered for publication.

Manuscript submissions must include an abstract of 150–200 words. Articles should be accompanied by a cover sheet with the title of the article, author's name, institutional affiliation, and contact information. Because JMEWS uses a double-blind peer review process, articles should not include the author's name. Authors are also asked to provide a resumé or short CV.

Articles must be in English, double-spaced, with a 12-point font and a one-inch margin throughout, and should be between 7,500 – 10,000 words, including main text, block text, references, and endnotes. Quotations of 50 words or more should be block-indented. Works cited must be listed in the reference section, and vice versa.

JMEWS conforms to the Chicago Manual of Style and uses the author-date system for citations and references. Detailed submission guidelines are posted online at http://inscribe.iupress.org/loi/mew. [End Page 128]
