Abstract

The Post-Vulgate shows Arthur oppressed, from the beginning of his reign, by an early vision of death announced in a dream, and by the sight of a nightmarish portent: the Questing Beast. Using analogies with classic and biblical narratives, this paper discusses the many-layered senefiance attached to the Beast along its successive incarnations.
