The Lifetime Achievement Award honors an individual who has supported geography through formal service to professional organizations or work in the public domain. Dennis Lord has made outstanding achievements in both arenas. He has served as editor of the Professional Geographer (1992-1994) and the Southeastern Geographer (1983-1987).
