Editor's Note

This first spring issue of TAPA, 133.1 (2003), inaugurates the journal's biannual publication schedule. The next issues, similar in size, will appear in the fall (133.2), next spring (134.1), and so forth. TAPA's papers now appear simultaneously in print and online in Project Muse® (http://muse.jhu.edu/journals/apa/); this was one of the anticipated benefits of the new format.

One key element in the production of TAPA remains constant, namely, the contribution of the referees. As the number of submissions increases (a happy development coincident with the new format and publication schedule) I am contacting more and more of you for advice. Sixty-seven colleagues participated in the evaluation and improvement of papers for the current issue, and this is an important aspect of the journal's identity as Transactions of the American Philological Association. I remain grateful to all who have assisted me in my work on TAPA, and look forward to establishing contact with many more colleagues as I work on the next few issues.
