Announcement The Program Committee of the Southern Historical Association invites proposals for sessions and papers for its 1997 meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 5-8. The committee recommends that proposed sessions consist of no more than two papers. Proposals should include two copies of the following: a concise summary of the content, thesis, and significance of each of the proposed papers, a brief curriculum vitae of each prospective participant, and a cover sheet listing the title of the session (or paper) and the names and institutional affiliations of all participants. Prospective participants are encouraged to submit their proposals as soon as possible, the deadline for submitting proposals is October 1, 1996. Please send all proposals to Lacy K. Southern.Cultures Electronic Mailing List The Center for the Study of the American South, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has established Southern.Cultures, an electronic mailing list for students and scholars of southern history, literature, folklore, and related topics.
