CONTRIBUTORS TO THIS ISSUE Robert E. McGlone is assistant professor of history at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and is currently writing a book about John Brown's war against slavery. Thomas J. Rowland holds a master's degree in theology from the Washington Theological Union and a doctorate in history from George Washington University. He is currently completing research for a book that reconsiders the place of early Federal military command in Civil War history.
