CONTRIBUTORS TO THIS ISSUE Major L. Wilson is professor of history at Memphis State University . Hehas recently completed work on ThePresidencyofMartin Van Buren, scheduled to be published by the University Press of Kansas in February 1984. Gabor S. Boritt teaches history at Gettysburg College and is the Director of its Civil War Institute. He is coauthor, with Harold Hölzer and Mark E. Neely, Jr., of By the People, For the People: Lincoln and the Printmakers' Art, 1860-1865, to be pubUshed by Scribner's in 1984, and the forthcominghistory of the Civil Warin World Book Encyclopedia. Adam Borit, M.D., teaches at the University of Texas Health Science Center and the M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute , Houston. His previous affiliations include the medical schools of Stanford, Harvard, and the University of California, Berkeley. James M. McPherson is Edwards Professor of History at Princeton University and author of several books on the Civil War era including Ordeal by Fire: The Civil War and Reconstruction (1982). Richard O. Curry, professor of history at the University of Connecticut , is working on a monograph on abolitionist ideology during the Reconstruction era. Lawrence B. Goodheart teaches at Nichols College. Hehas completed a biography of Elizur Wright, Jr., and is collaborating with Richard O. Curry on an article dealing with the schism in the American Tract Society over the issue of slavery in 1857. ...
