CONTRIBUTORS TO THIS ISSUE David Courtwright is a Fellow in the department of history, Rice University and formerly a Fellow with the Institute for Medical Humanities, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. He is presently working on a study of opiate addiction in America, 1800-1920. Joseph George, Jr., is professor and chairman of the department of history, Villanova University. Joseph G. Dawson III has been appointed instructor of history , Louisiana State University at Eunice. Ellen L. Henle, assistant academic dean at Oberlin College , is currently doing research on the ante-bellum black "co-ed." ...
