FILM & HISTORY NEWS FILM & HISTORY TO CO-SPONSOR CONFERENCE SALISBURY CONFERENCE II, JUNE 5-8, 1985 In 1980 Film & History joined forces with Li terature Film Quarterly and several other journals to co-sponsor the f i rst "Sal isbury Conference on Literature, History and Film." That meeting was such an. unqualified success, resulting not only in a rewarding exchange of ideas but in the ultimate publication of many of the papers in the pages of the cooperating journals, that a sequel is planned for June 5-8, 1985. The facilities of the Salisbury State College campus have proven excellent for such a conference. Dorm rooms will be available at a most reasonable fee. For those on a particularly tight budget, the college food service meal plan will be available as well. For those wishing to combine a scholarly conference with an early summer vacation the location is perfect, a scant thirty miles from the resort cities of Ocean City, Maryland and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and thirty-two miles of unspoiled seashore on Assateague Island and the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. We invite papers that are concise, comprehensible, and readabl e--ones that will become strong candidates for publication in Film & History. We especially encourage papers which address the role of cinema studies in the study and teaching of the humanities. In the words of conference coordinator James Welsh, "We are determined to avoid the cryptic and overspeci al i zed . . . . We detest the insufferable jargon that all too often typifies scholarship in cinema studies. Indeed, the focus of our conference cou Td well be "The Crisis of Coherence in Film Scholarship."
