Editor's Note

The seven articles featured in this special focus of Contemporary Southeast Asia were first presented at "Southern Thailand: Anatomy of an Insurgency, 2004-2009", a conference held at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) in Singapore on 10-11 March 2009. Since the conference the papers have been revised and updated to reflect the latest developments in the ongoing insurgency in Thailand's far south.
