Project MUSE very much appreciates having Notes in our collection, and I hope you will allow me to point out a statement in the recent issue that needs correcting. In "A View of Music Librarianship as Seen Through its Journals: A Comparison of Notes and Fontes Artis Musicae, 1977–2007," Kirstin Dougan writes on page 712: "neither JSTOR nor Project Muse provides subject indexing." MUSE indexing coordinator Bill Kulp was surprised to come across this statement when he was assigning subject headings to the article. Project MUSE has featured subject indexing using Library of Congress Subject Headings since launching in 1995, and contributes new and revised headings to LCSH as a member of the SACO program.
