FILM & HISTORY News POPULAR CULTURAL ASSOCIATION SCHEDULED FOR ATLANTA The 1986 national meetings of the Popular Culture Association and the American Culture Association will be held in Atlanta, Georgia from April 2 though 6. As usual, there are a number of program areas in which papers or entire sessions on film and/or television would be appropriate. CALL FOR PAPERS: QUALITATIVE SOCIOLOGY The journal Qualitative Sociology seeks submissions for a special issue on "Sociology of Film" (Summer, 1987). Areas of interest include, but are not necessarily limited to: film and cultural theory; interpretive sociological methods in film study; historical and contemporary analyses of genres, the star system, directors, critics, audiences, film industries; censorship and film; documentary tradition and experimental cinema; international cinema; images of women, men racial/ethnic, religious groups, people with disabilities, and elderly in cinema. There is a special interest in articles that fuse sociological and historical perspectives.
