A LIST OF THE PAPERS OF EDWARD CHARLES MACINTOSH BOWRA (1841-1874) AND CECIL ARTHUR VERNER BOWRA (1869-1947)(Ace. No. 201813) These papers were deposited in the Library of the School of Oriental and African Studies by Brigadier E. V. Bowra, with the consent of Sir C. M. Bowra, in February, 1967. The papers principally relate to the Bowra family's service with the Chinese Maritime Customs, and form a most useful addition to the papers of Sir Frederick Maze and Sir Robert Hart which are already deposited in the Library. The papers were used by Commander Charles Drage as the basis for his book Servants of the Dragon Throne (Peter Dawnay, 1966).
