A Note on the Spelling of Korean Words


Korean is a difficult language to romanize. In general, the editors have retained the romanization as it originally appeared in each previously published work. Otherwise, they have tried to use the McCune-Reischauer system wherever possible. This has not always eliminated inconsistencies, especially in personal names. The proliferation of romanization systems and, in some instances, the changing preferences of the authors have resulted in a variety of spellings.
