Independence Hall

After nationhood was restored, the Republic of Korea began a process to recognize individuals who had made significant contributions in the struggle for independence. This included the building of the Independence Hall of Korea, completed in 1987; according to the government, the hall was built "to reflect and commemorate the noble spirit of the deceased patriots who sacrificed themselves for their nation so that we could be nurtured by them." Many people closely associated with Hawai'i have been honored as patriotic heroes by Korea, and their names and biographies have been entered into the permanent archives of the hall. Their names are too numerous to list here, but can be found at the Independence Hall
