us through 1972 (let your breath out slowly). We don't want to stop the flow; we only wish to say that articles cannot be published as quickly as before . As you know, our budget is limited . Printing costs are paid out of our subscription money only, and therefore we cannot print as many articles per issue as we should like to. During the past year two of our colleagues have retired from active teaching — Ruth Lee Kennedy and Harry Warren Hilborn. After a few years experience elsewhere, Ruth Lee Kennedy settled down in 1930 at Smith College, where, except for some visiting professorships, etc., she remained until her retirement in 1961. Her doctoral dissertation, "The Dramatic Art of Moreto" (Smith College Studies in Modern Languages, XIII [Northampton , 1931-32] ), has been a milestone in studies on aureosecular drama and indispensable for any research on Moreto 's works; her articles on the comedia, especially those on fashions in clothing as a clue to chronology, are well known. Did we say "retirement" above? Oh, no! That same year of 1961, Professor Kennedy moved to the University of Arizona, where she has taught until this past June, when she retired once more. —Ye Ed. has personal reasons to remember Harry Hilborn, his wife Marguerite , and their son Kenneth with affection and gratitude. Thank you, Harry, for those two years at Queen's University! Perhaps some of you oldtimers recall the Comediantes luncheon in Boston in 1952, at which we had a choice of bratwurst or knockwurst. That was Hany's doing. Ye Ed., a graduate student then, didn't know one from the other and wondered if that was the kind of food Canadians ate! Harry Hilborn attended the University of Toronto and got his Ph. D. in 1933. A student of the late Milton Buchanan, he pioneered in the application of versification use to the problem of chronology ; his doctoral thesis, A Chronology of the Plays of Don Pedro Calderón de la Barca (1938), was a precursor and guide to Morley and Bruerton in their work on Lope de Vega. From 1927 to 1950 Professor Hilborn taught at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia; then he moved to Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, as Head of the Department of Spanish and Italian, where he has been ever since.—To these two scholars and Comediantes let's give, "todos a una," a vociferous and eternally echoing ¡Vítor! ¡Vítor! ¡Vítor!
