HISTORICAL NEWS The Spring Meeting of Friends Historical Association was held jointly with the Friends Social Union at Buckingham Meetinghouse on Fifth Month 14, 1967. This year the experiment was tried of holding our Spring Meeting on First Day, rather than on Seventh Day, because of conflicts with certain Quarterly Meetings. This change proved to be decidedly satisfactory. It offered the added opportunity for many of us to join with the local meeting at its regular time of worship. A well-attended meeting for worship was held in the attractively preserved old meetinghouse at 11:00 a.m. This was followed by a box lunch in one of the Buckingham Friends School buildings. The local Friends were especially efficient and hospitable in their role as hosts. Their provision of ice cream, coffee, and cookies added significantly to our fellowship and enjoyment. The afternoon program consisted of a colorful talk on the "Historical Background of Buckingham Friends Meeting" by Arthur E. Bye, a member of this Meeting. This was followed by Erroll T. Elliott's provocative paper entitled "The Western Movement of Friends in the Nineteenth Century." Erroll T.
