MINUTES OF THE 1978 MEETINGS OF THE COMEDIANTES The meeting of the Executive Committee of the Division on Sixteenth and Seventeenth-Century Spanish Drama was held at 7:00 p. m. on December 27 at the Americana Hotel in New York. The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Committee, William M. Whitby, and the following members were present: Edward Nagy, Vern G. Williamsen (Secretary), Frederick A. de Armas, and William R. Blue. The matters on the agenda were: the cancellation of plans for the Cash Bar planned for this meeting in conjunction with the Division on Sixteenth- and Seventeenth-Century Spanish Prose and Poetry and the possibility of sponsoring two meetings at the 1980 convention, one of them to be related to a full discussion of one of the papers read at the first meeting. It was announced that Frank P. Casa had been elected to the Executive Committee, to serve from 1979-1983. Nominees and Alternates were chosen to stand for election to the Committee for the term beginning in 1980. Vern G. Williamsen and Frederick A. de Armas were confirmed as Chairman and Secretary, respectively, for 1979. Papers of eight to ten double-space pages on any topic related to the Comedia should be submitted in duplicate to the Chairman (Vern G. Williamsen , University of Missouri, Columbia) by April 15, 1979. This announcement was made at the Division Meeting and will (or will have) appear (ed) in the Spring 1979 Division Newsnotes. The Division meeting was held at 9:00 p. m. December 27. Professor William M. Whitby, Chairman, presided. After reporting the actions of the Executive Committee, Professor Williamsen announced the imminent publication of the Tirso bibliography by the University of Missouri Press (March, 1979). Four papers were presented: «Los naipes en el teatro del XVII,» Louis C. Pérez; «The Tragic Idea of El caballero de 0/medo,»Thomas A. O'Connor; «Role Reversal in the Theatre of Vélez de Guevara: La serrana de la vera,» Ruth Lundelius; and «Don Juan's Invasion of Arcadia,» John G. Morton.
