Editor's Note As has been pastpractice, the editors ofContagion continue to select for referee process papersfrom the annual meeting ofthe Colloquium on Violence and Religion. The theme ofthe 1999 meeting at Emory University in Atlanta was Mimesis: From Primates to Humans, and some of the contributions on that topic, andfrom the breakout sections on other topics, have been revised for publication here. But, as other essays contained herein indicate, we also continue to welcome manuscriptsfrom authors in all academic disciplines andfields ofprofessional activity which bear on René Girard ' s mimetic model ofhuman behavior and cultural organization. Future volumes will also include a section for Notes and Comments, allowingfor responses toprevious essays and discussion oftexts and issues related to interests ofthejournal. We wish again to express our thanks to Loyola 's Center for Instructional Design for its generous assistance.
