EL MENTIDERO DE COMEDIANTES The Revista Canadiense de Estudios Hispánicos will devote its spring 1981 number to Calderón, Articles are invited. Inquiries to Professor Jack H. Box 1042, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania 19010 for details. A series of four articles that appeared in TAe American Hispanist during 1977 should be of interest to our readers. Under the heading of «The State of the Art,» Professors Janet Diaz, John Kronik, Bruno Damiani, and Richard Kinkade discuss the contributions of American Hispanism to 20th-century, 18th- and 19th-century, Golden-Age, and Medieval studies, respectively. The corresponding issues are those of April, May, September, and October. The four pieces, commissioned by Professor James A. Parr for presentation at the 1976 Peninsular Literature Section of the Atlanta AATSP meeting, represent an attempt to bring up to date and to expand upon Professor Wardropper's assessment published in 1968. This issue is dedicated to Professor Karl C. Gregg, former Managing Editor, whose contribution to this journal in time and energy during the past decade and half is well beyond reckoning.
