Abstract

Despite the erudite efforts of Emilio Cotarelo y Mori in what is still the classic analysis of the life and work of Diego Jiménez de Enciso, the biography of the Sevillian dramatist remains to be completed. In a recently published article I demonstrated, on the basis of documents from the Spanish archives, that Enciso came from a family of converso lineage. His family, with others of similar origin, formed the Sevillian elite of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. My objective in this note is to further enrich the biography of the dramatist by providing additional information about his life, once again derived from heretofore unused archival sources. (RP)
