Notice John W. Davis Upon finishing the editorship of Hume Studies after fifteen years, I want to thank some ofthe many people who have helped in making the Journal possible. Above all I owe a debt ofgratitude to the Department of Philosophy and the Faculty of Arts of the University of Western Ontario for generous support in financial matters as well as help in countless other ways. In particular, when the Journal was first contemplated, I received help and encouragement in many ways from the then Dean ofthe Faculty ofArts, J. G. Rowe. I received invaluable assistance from secretaries over the years who worked on the Journal. For some years the Journal received financial assistance from the Social and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Their help is gratefully acknowledged. No Journal can succeed without help in assessing papers for possible publication. The response of the many Hume specialists that I asked to referee papers is gratifying. The unsung work on Hume Studies and other Journals raises immeasurably the standards of the profession. The Journal is fortunate that Professor Fred Wilson of the University ofToronto will assume the Editorship with the November, 1990 issue.
