Abstract

The Preschool Department at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School designed a Parent-Centered nursery for 2-year-old deaf children. This project involved weekly participation by the parents, including teacher-guided activities taught by the parents on a one-to-one situation with their own child. These sessions were videotaped and then viewed by the parent and teacher together. A system of positive feedback led to self-evaluation by the parent. Eventually the parents monitored their own tapes, handled their own critiquing sessions, and set goals and objectives to work on with their children.
