Schools and Classes in Canada INTRODUCTION Beginning with this 1991 Reference Issue, and annually thereafter, information on schools and classes for deaf children and youth in Canada will be provided in two sections: (1) a directory of the names, addresses, and telephones numbers for each school and class and (2) a table summarizing the programs and services offered by each school and class. The schools and classes supplied the information to the Annals Reference Issue through a survey for the 199091 school year. The directory and the table are listed by province, and for each province the programs are listed alphabetically within each of three categories: schools, classes, and other facilities. The following categories, definitions, and abbreviations apply to the table. (Cells left blank in the table indicate that the school did not report the information.) 1. Residential: boarding facilities offered; program may also serve day students Day: day facilities only 2. Public: public support; parents do not pay tuition Private: private support; parents pay tuition (scholarships or tuition assistance may be available) 3. 4.
