Abstract

A 33-item questionnaire was sent to 81 teacher education programs in the United States and Canada. The respondents, representing 76.5% of the identified programs, answered multiple-choice and open-ended questions regarding student enrollment, selected aspects of their student teaching programs, and student teacher evaluation. Follow-up telephone interviews with 24 of the teacher educators were also conducted. The results provided basic information about the current status of teacher preparation programs in the education of the hearing impaired.
