Abstract

This study describes the extent to which vocational teachers of the hearing impaired participate in professional organizations and attend conferences for technical and professional skill building. The respondents were educators in 130 institutions and educational settings for hearing-impaired students in the United States. Analysis of responses from the 190 teachers showed that the educators are not participating in professional organizations to upgrade their competence. In addition, it was determined that professional organizations are not addressing the needs of vocational educators of the hearing impaired.
