Folk and Academic Racism: Concepts from Morris and Folklore

This article explores the intersections between concepts of racism presented in the context of Morrisa purportedly "English" dance practice that has limited circulation, and that remains primarily whiteand in the context of the Morris Dance Discussion Group an e-mail listserv group. I use these as reference points for a critique of some concepts common in the practices of academic folklore scholarship and offer suggestions for more progressive, politically astute directions for folklore and methodology.
