This fall you’ve hauled in bushels, sliced and canned, overstuffed shelves to create soundness for your living. While outside unending roots trip you up again. Watch us pull apples from trees, our feet swift and dancing. Our steps burn into the wood of your grand hotel: we’re not for erasing. This tone, my face set to following this life through: the one past and the one still hungry in my belly. And this heart—a singular hand—I give to her again and again.
