Craven Awards recognizes the most original book on the coming of the Civil War, the Civil War years, or Reconstruction. Books of pure military history will not receive consideration, as this stipulation recognizes the Quaker beliefs of Craven, who served as President of the Organization of American Historians from 1963 to 1964. The winning author receives a cash prize of $500.00. Further details, when available, are found at http://www.oah.org/activities/awards/craven/index.html.
