Cándido Carreiras Carreiras lived in Lugo(where later Uxío conversed with a lonely owl).He usually dressed in black, with a white shirt but no tie,and he sported a black beard.He walked with a stick.
On the 14th of April, 1931,the very day the Republic got declared,Cándido Carreiras Carreiras –a lifelong Republican himself –went with a small bunch of kindred spiritsand a big bunch of flowersto bring the glad tidings to Leiras Pulpeiro,writer and medical doctor, where he lay.
And when they got there Cándidowent down on his knees and laidthe flowers on the friend's gravestone,and proudly, not too quietly,he told their old comrade in hope:
'The Republic has come!The Republic has come!'

Cándido Carreiras Carreiras vivía en Lugo(donde más tarde Uxío conversaría con un solitario búho).Normalmente vestía de negro, de camisa blanca pero sin corbata,y lucía una barba negra.Andaba con bastón.
El 14 de abril de 1931,el mismo día que se declaró la República,Cándido Carreiras Carreiras –que era también republicano –fue con un pequeño grupo de almas gemelasy un gran ramillete de floresa llevarle las buenas nuevas a Leiras Pulpeiro,escritor y médico, donde éste yacía.
Y cuando allí llegaron, Cándidose hincó y dispusolas flores sobre la tumba de su amigo,y con orgullo, y no en un murmuro,le dijo a su viejo camarada en la esperanza:
'¡La República ha llegado!'¡La República ha llegado!'

Pearse Hutchinson nació en Glasgow en 1927, de padres irlandeses. Se mudó a Dublín en 1932 y se educó en Synage Street y en el University College de Dublín. La Dolmen Press publicó sus primeras colecciones, Tongue without Hands (1963) y Expansions (1969). Por los pasados treinta años su obra es editada por la The Gallery Press.
