Dec 1976)» The twentieth consecutive meeting of the Seminar, pending MLA approval , will be held in New York in December 1976, with H. Ray Stevens (Western Maryland College, Westminster, Md.) as Discussion Leader. Deadline for submission of papers to be considered ι 1 July 1976. ELT Seminar on English Fiction (1880-1920) - Critical Approaches » The proposed twenty-first ELT Seminar, pending MLA approval , will be held at the MLA meetings in December 1977, with H. E. Gerber (Arizona Stete University) as Discussion Leader. We shall focus on the inadequacies of recent critical approaches to such authors as Arnold Bennett, George Gissing, Thomas Hardy, George Moore, and, say, H. G. Wells and attempt to suggest critical approaches more appropriate to the work of these authors. We will be pleased to consider general articles as well as essays on individual authors. Some of the issues with which we might be concerned were raised at the H. G. Wells seminar in San Francisco and some of the problems are raised in Robert C. Schweik's review-article on Hardy criticism in the present issue. Papers to be considered should be sent to H. E. Gerber by 1 July 1977. ANNOUNCEMENTS 1.
