179 ANNOUNCEMENTS 1. Conrad Conferences: The International Conference of Conrad Scholars, under the chairmanship of Suzanne Henig, editor of the newly founded Virginia Woolf Quarterly, met at the University of London, September 1-3, 1972. The I972 Joseph Conrad Colloquy sponsored by the Neophilological Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences has been announced for September 8-12, 1972, in Warsaw. Plans are also being made for a conference in 197^ "to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Conrad's death. 2. Conradiana: We have now seen several issues of Conradiana in its new format. It makes a thoroughly handsome appearance, is carefully edited, and is attracting some fine material on Conrad. Under the editorship of Daniel E. Lees and with the sponsorship of Texas Tech University, Conradiana seems well on the way to a healthy and hopefully long existence. 3. Conference on Decadence : The NEMLA section on the literature of the Decadence welcomes papers on Decadent style in England, France, and Germany for next year's meeting in Boston. Annual Bibliography on Anglo-Irish Literature: The Bibliography Sub-Committee of the International Association for the Study of AngloIrish Literature requests interested scholars to submit titles of published works on Anglo-Irish literature to (in Ui S. Lionel Stevenson: What does one say about one of the earliest and most constant supporters of ELT and the MLA Seminars on ELT when in one breath he announces his retirement from the faculty of Duke University and in the next informs us he will move on to an appointment at the University of Houston? Simply, I suppose, that it is inconceivable that Lionel Stevenson should ever retire. He is, in any event, already committed to participation in the ELT Seminar at the New York MLA meetings in December. 6. Robert C. Schweik: One of our most industrious advisers, Bob Schweik will be at the university in Trier this year and undoubtedly continuing his textual studies of Hardy. 7.
