In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Editors' Note

As the year comes to a close, the editors would like to thank the members of the Advisory Editorial Board whose terms are ending: Warwick H. Anderson, James Bono, Georgina Feldberg, and Brian Nance. We've sincerely appreciated their advice and support over the past three years. We welcome new Board members Robert Aronowitz, Mark Harrison, Susan L. Smith, and Keith Wailoo, and we look forward to seeing all members of the Advisory Editorial Board at the 2010 AAHM meeting in Rochester, Minnesota.

We would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to the anonymous reviewers who give their time and effort throughout the year to provide guidance on BHM manuscripts.

Looking ahead, we are pleased to announce that beginning January 1, 2010, the Bulletin will be using Manuscript Central to manage all incoming submissions and the peer review process. This Web-based content management system will allow authors to submit their manuscripts online, receive immediate confirmation of receipt, and check the status of their manuscripts after submission. The new system will enable the editors to move manuscripts through peer review more efficiently and access Bulletin files remotely; it is a change that we feel will be beneficial to all of our authors and reviewers.

All new manuscripts submitted on January 1, 2010, and after must be submitted through the Manuscript Central portal at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/bhm. We will not be accepting new submissions via mail or e-mail after this date. Links to the Manuscript Central site will be available from the Bulletin's homepage at the Johns Hopkins University Press site (http://www.press.jhu.edu/journals/bulletin_of_the_history_of_medicine) and Project Muse (http://muse.jhu.edu/journals/bulletin_of_the_history_of_medicine). We will provide detailed instructions for authors online and in the Spring 2010 issue of the journal. [End Page vii]
