Abstract

This article is a retrospective, examining two decades of my tenure as editor-in-chief of a prominent management journal—my successes, failures, and lessons learned. The article offers insights and suggestions for those launching a new journal and those new to editing a journal. Some of the ideas presented may also be of interest to the experienced editor, such as the use of an administrative fee instead of a submission fee and a new twist on page fees. The guiding theme is that of the editor as a servant leader.
