11 THE EDITOR'S FENCE 1. Thomas Hardy Seminar at MLA (Chicago, 1971): This Issue of FLT contains the program for Seminar 56: English Literature In Transition! I88O-I92O: Thomas Hardy, and the four panelists' brief statements on which discussion is to be based. In addition, we publish several other papers on Hardy which are not directly related to the meeting. We remind our readers that anyone wishing to attend the meeting must apply to the Discussion Leader, Professor Robert C. Schwelk, who will admit applicants up to the limit established by MLA. 2. Conrad In the MLA Scholar's Library; On behalf of the Northern Illinois University Press, we are pleased to announce that Joseph Conrad; An Annotated Bibliography of Writings About Him, In the Annotated Secondary Bibliography Series, has been selected for inclusion In the MLA Scholar's Library. The second volume in the A. S. B. Series, this book will be on display at the MLA meetings. 3. Centre d'Études Victoriennes et Edouardlennes - Montpellier; Joseph Dobrinski has informed us through Richard Cordell of the establishment at Université de Montpellier of the Center for Victorian and Edwardian Studies. We wish this new venture well. Such centers for interdisciplinary period studies seem on the Increase, and we applaud the idea. k.
