86 D. H. LAWRENCE AT TAOS We nave had a letter from Charlotte I. Lee, Professor of Interpretation , School of Speech, Northwestern University making the following announcement. Students of D. H. Lawrence nota bene. The Village of Taos, New Mexico, Is planning a special series of events to commemorate the fortieth anniversary of the death of D. H. Lawrence. The committee which is already at aork indicates that the observance to be held In the autumn of 1970 is to be "completely uncommercial." It is being designed to attract scholars and lay people interested in Twentieth Century Literature and in Lawrence in particular. Taos is the only American town in which D. H. Lawrence resided. He was here for three peiods of six to seven months between 1922 and 1925· His widow, Frieda Lawrence Ravagll lived here until her death in 1956 and is buried, with D. H. Lawrence, at the mountain top on the D. H. Lawrence Ranch nearby.
