The birthplace of U.S. women's rights, Seneca Falls, N.Y, is gearing up for the summer of 1998 and the 150th anniversary of the ffrst Women's Rights Convention. A four-month-long celebration to be coordinated by a consortium of local, state, and nonprofit organizations is planned, and to assist Ui the project a fundraiser is needed. Siena College announces a multi-disciplinary conference on the Anniversary of World War II to be held 4-5 June 1998. The foci wül be on the beginnings and the aftermath of the war. The International Federation for Research in Women's History announces a conference on the theme "Women and Human Rights: Social Justice and Citizenship: International Historical Perspectives," to be held in Melbourne , Australia from 30 June to 2 July 1998. Proposals are invited for presentations on historical understandings, across time and place, of the experiences of women as they relate to issues of human rights, social justice , and citizenship. The program will include sessions that analyze the origins of these terms and categories, contestations over their meaning and implementation, and their expression in a range of social and cultural contexts. Proposals could either be m the form of individual papers or panels. The closing date for proposals is 30 June 1997. 230 Journal of Women's History Spring The ffrst annual Museum and Library Archives Institute, sponsored by the Emily Williston Memorial Library & Museum, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, and the New England Museum Association , wiU be held at the Williston Northampton School, Easthampton, Massachusetts on 20-21 June 1997. This Institute is directed toward those who have responsibility for museum and library records and special collections , but limited experience in archival methods and procedures. This year's curriculum includes such topics as appraising and scheduling, arrangement and description, architectural records, reference and access, copyright, automation, photographs, and the organization of special collections . The "Family and Household: Revisiting Concepts and Experience" conference will be held from 2-4 January 1998 at Nottingham Trent University .
