In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Editor's Note
  • E.H.F.

We are pleased to present a group of essays on diverse topics and following diverse critical and theoretical paths, as is usual in this journal, by a distinguished group of scholars at different stages in their careers. We encourage our readers to consider submitting their work on early modern peninsular and colonial Latin American theater. The Bulletin of the Comediantes is now in Project MUSE, and fully digitalized, from 61.1 forward.

I am most grateful to our new managing editor, Vincent Martin, for his work on the current and immediately previous numbers, where one can find a number of design changes. Vince has been tireless in his efforts on behalf of the journal, and here you will see his collaboration as a theater critic of the 2008 Almagro Theater Festival. As I count ten years as editor, I want to thank, most sincerely, assistant editor Bradley Nelson, book review editor Thomas O'Connor, and the exceptionally dedicated members of the editorial board for their contributions. We continue to miss our colleagues Willard King, Barbara Kurtz, Charlotte Stern, and James Castañeda, whose service to the Bulletin of the Comediantes and to the profession will never be forgotten. With this number we say farewell to editorial assistant Jessica Litts, who has worked arduously behind the scenes at BCom since September 2007. Our business office will miss her greatly as she embarks on the next stage of her personal and professional life. And, finally, our thanks go to our authors and readers. [End Page vii]
