Allan C. Christensen is Professor Emeritus of English at John Cabot University in Rome. Besides many articles, especially on Romantic and Victorian literature, his publications include two books on Edward Bulwer Lytton and one on the novels written in English by the Italian exile of the Risorgimento Giovanni Ruffini. His most recent book is Nineteenth-Century Narratives of Contagion: "Our Feverish Contact" (2005). Pertinent to the article in this issue of VP is a current project dealing with the sea voyages of Charles Darwin and Richard Henry Dana, Jr. Another project concerns the nine novels, deserving rediscovery, by Ruffini's companion Henrietta Jenkin.

Ernest Fontana is Professor of English at Xavier University. His article on "Pre-Raphaelite Martyrdoms" appears in the Spring 2009 issue of the Journal of Pre-Raphaelite Studies.

Jed Mayer is Assistant Professor of Victorian Literature at SUNY-New Paltz. He is currently at work on "Scientific Dominion: Experimenting with the Victorian Animal," which explores scientific, ecological, and political debates surrounding the nonhuman animal in nineteenth-century culture. His recent work addressing cultural responses to evolution and vivisection has been published in Victorian Studies, Nineteenth-Century Prose, Victorian Review, and the Journal of Pre-Raphaelite Studies.

Ingrid Ranum is Assistant Professor in the departments of English and Women's and Gender Studies at Gonzaga University. She recently published an article on Tennyson's Enid idylls in Victorian Poetry and is currently at work on a larger project on domesticity and Victorian medievalism.

Henry Weinfield is Professor of Liberal Studies and English at the University of Notre Dame. His most recent books are The Music of Thought in the Poetry of George Oppen and William Bronk (2009), Without Mythologies: New and Selected Poems and Translations (2008), and a translation, done in collaboration with Catherine Schlegel, of Hesiod's Theogony and Works and Days (2006). He is currently completing a study under the working title of "'That Uncertain Heaven': Studies in the Blank-Verse Tradition from Milton to Stevens." [End Page 459]
