Abstract

This discussion of the Latin teacher training initiatives at a large, public state university focuses upon some of the challenges posed by working with both undergraduates and M.A. students to prepare them for the K–12 classroom, in the context of a small classics department with large responsibilities to the university's general education program. In addition to providing information about the department's Latin pedagogy and other workshops which offer in-service certification credits for continuing professional development experience from the state department of education, it also describes the training received by full-time funded M.A. candidates who serve as teaching assistants in our introductory mythology course.
