John Michael Foster Jr. is a Ph.D. candidate at Purdue University. He is currently writing his dissertation on the participation of northern state militias’ participation in the Civil War and their contributions to the Union war effort.
Jennifer M. Murray is a doctoral candidate in American history at Auburn University and is writing her dissertation on the history of the Gettysburg battlefield. Since 2002, she has worked as an interpretive ranger at Gettysburg National Military Park.
