In "Evolution of Knowledge Encapsulated in Scientific Definitions," by Howard Gest (Perspect. Biol. Med. 44[4]:556-64), the 1955 definition of photosynthesis cited on p. 560 was incorrectly attributed to the Oxford Dictionary of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.This definition was taken from the Oxford Universal Dictionary on Historical Principles, 3rd ed., ed. C. T. Onions. (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1955). We regret this error. [Note: This correction has been made to the online version of Perspect. Biol. Med. 44[4]:556-64]
