Abstract

This study examines norms faculty members hold for academic deans' behavior. Using a national survey, responses from faculty at Research and Liberal Arts institutions are analyzed. Results indicate eleven norms across three levels of inappropriateness dealing with issues like information sharing and responsiveness. Implications for research and practice are discussed.
