Call for Papers

For the Children's Literature Association Annual International Meeting, June 2-5, 1994: "A Sense of Place." Deadline: January 31, 1994.

We invite papers and proposals for workshops and panel discussions. Papers should be 8-10 pages, double-spaced (20 minutes reading time) and should conform to the new MLA citation format. Three copies of the paper and an SASE should be submitted.

Possible topics include children's books about cultural and geographic settings, architecture/buildings, farms and rural life, the world of the future, the Westward movement, social class and place, landscape, schools, cities, the prairie, fantasy worlds, houses and homes, the environment, multiculturalism, the politics of place, the workplace, historical settings, places in transition. We especially invite papers and/or program proposals on Laura Ingalls Wilder, Mark Twain, and regionalism.

Special Collections in Children's Literature

A third edition of Special Collections in Children's Literature, edited by Carolyn Field, will be published by the American Library Association.

The National Planning for Special Collections Committee is seeking information on new collections that have been formed since the early 1980s, as well as those collections that were missed in previous editions.
