Editing My Mother: The Journalist Barbara Board

The author of this essay reflects on her mother’s career as a journalist working for the British press during the era of the British Mandate in Palestine and Transjordan during the years 1936–1947. Barbara Board published two books Newsgirl in Palestine and Newsgirl in Egypt and wrote two complete unpublished manuscripts on her time as a war correspondent in Palestine during World War II. The author has contacted acquaintances of her mother’s in Tulkarm, Hadera and other places in Israel and the Palestinian Territories.
